Dance Force @ the Plex

Dance Force teaches dance classes and camps at 14 locations throughout the Bay area. Kathy directs the dance programs for several cities, community centers, private schools, and public schools. Kathy also created a dance scholarship program that benefits many kids in the bay area.

Dance Force Owner/Director

Kathy Welch has been dancing all her life. She has taught jazz, hip hop, tiny tots, parent participation classes, comboclasses, competitive dance and cheerleading teams.

Kathy is a former San Francisco 49er Cheerleader and San Jose Saber Cat Arena Football Cheerleader. She danced for San Jose’s first Professional Roller Hockey team, The Rhinos, and San Jose’s first indoor soccer team, The Grizzlies. She has been a backup dancer for Carlos Santana, Huey Lewis and the News, The United States Mayor’s Ball, Joe Montana’s Retirement Ceremony, the Make a Wish Foundation, and the World Cup of Soccer. Kathy also created a dance scholarship program that benefits many kids in the bay area.

Class Descriptions

Tiny Tots Ballet Ages 2.5-3.5 Magic Wands, Teddy Bears, & Tutus! Your child will love this action packed FUN class. They will be introduced to ballet, creative movement, learn ballet steps, use props, sing songs and begin to understand dance terminology. Princess Pre-Ballet Ages 3-5 Calling all Princesses! In this magical princess themed class, they will learn ballet, creative dance, individual steps, across the floor movement and dance combinations. While dancing to their favorite princess music they will use fun props like scarves, magic wands, & more. Dancers perform in class, on the last day of the session. Hip Hop Boogie Ages 4-7 Bounce, Jump, & Spin! Your child will love this energetic and action packed class. They will learn basic hip hop dance moves to fun kid’s music while building confidence, coordination, and rhythm. Movement games, using their imagination, and being creative is all apart of this great class. Kids will perform on last day of class.

Tumble Time! Ages 2.5-3.5 It's Tumble Time! Children will learn basic tumbling like, bear walks, leap frogs, jumps, and log rolls. Children will do fun movement games and dances to help promote balance, rhythm, and body control. We will practice taking turns, performing in front of each other, sing songs, dance with props, and more! Cheerleading Dance Ages 5-8 GO! FIGHT! WIN! Children will learn cheerleading motions, chants, jumps, and terminology. They will also learn a dance using pom poms while incorporating cheer moves. This is a fun class and is high energy! Dancers
