Dance Force teaches dance classes and camps at 14 locations throughout the Bay area. Kathy directs the dance programs for several cities, community centers, private schools, and public schools. Kathy also created a dance scholarship program that benefits many kids in the bay area.

Dance Force Owner/Director

Kathy Welch has been dancing all her life. She has taught jazz, hip hop, tiny tots, parent participation classes, comboclasses, competitive dance and cheerleading teams.

Kathy is a former San Francisco 49er Cheerleader and San Jose Saber Cat Arena Football Cheerleader. She danced for San Jose’s first Professional Roller Hockey team, The Rhinos, and San Jose’s first indoor soccer team, The Grizzlies. She has been a backup dancer for Carlos Santana, Huey Lewis and the News, The United States Mayor’s Ball, Joe Montana’s Retirement Ceremony, the Make a Wish Foundation, and the World Cup of Soccer. Kathy also created a dance scholarship program that benefits many kids in the bay area.

Class Descriptions

  • Dancing Together! (Parent Participation)
    Ages 1.5-3 years
    This class is designed to give children the
    beginning elements of dance in a fun,
    comfortable, and creative learning environment.
    The instructor will guide you through both
    listening and moving activities, and dances to
    get you both dancing around hand in hand.
    We will use props, sing songs, let the children
    explore the dance space, and have fun! (Adult
    participation required.)
  • Tiny Tots Dance
    Ages 2-3 years
    Hula Hoops, Teddy Bears, and Fun! Your child
    will love this action packed class. They will
    be introduced to creative movement, simple
    dance steps, use props, sing songs and begin to
    understand dance terminology.
  • Princess Ballet
    Ages 3-5 years
    Calling all Princesses! In this magical princess
    themed class, children will learn ballet, creative
    dance, individual steps, across the floor movement
    and dance combinations. While dancing
    to their favorite princess music they will use fun
    prop: scarves, magic wands & more. In-class
    performance dates TBA.
  • Ballet
    Ages 5-8 years
    Children will learn basic ballet steps, across
    the floor movement, and ballet terminology.
    Props are used in the class to create a fun
    environment. In-class performance dates TBA.

Classes start September 1st, 2010
(No class Nov 23-26 and Dec 22-31)

* Months that have 5 class meetings will serve to make up for months that have 3 class meetings.
  • Hip Hop Boogie
    Ages 4-7 years
    Bounce, Jump, & Spin! Your child will love this
    energetic and action packed class, learning
    basic hip hop dance moves to fun kids' music
    while building confidence, coordination,
    and rhythm. Movement games, using their
    imagination, and being creative are all part of
    this class. In-class performance dates TBA.
  • Pop Star! Dance
    Ages 7-11 years
    Come be a STAR! Dancers will learn moves from
    shows like High School Musical and Glee! They
    will learn current pop, hip hop, and jazz style
    moves to fun music. Instructors will also help
    students make up their own choreography to
    incorporate in their dance. In-class performance
    dates TBA.
  • Kids Hip Hop
    Ages 9-13 years
    Students will learn age appropriate hip hop
    moves and combinations to their favorite
    music. Warm ups, across the floor, isolations,
    and combinations will be taught. In-class
    performance dates TBA.
